I want to do too many things. The obsessiveness of humanity confronts me: the constant go-go-going leaves me burnt out, just like the earth itself. Overwhelmed, stressed, and paralyzed by the climate crisis, burnout culture, and excess external stimuli, I seek refuge in simplicity. These stills are taken from videos of meditative scenes shot in various parks in The Hague. The sand touches my skin, the smell of sprouting grass fills the air, and ants crawl over my nose as I lie in the landscape doing absolutely… nothing. They are tableau vivants—‘living paintings’—that embody radical niksen, the Dutch verb for doing nothing.
